Golf Digest Award – Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club has been recognized among the “biggest, most important renovations” in the U.S. & Canada with an award for Best Transformation for 2022 – Runner Up. “This category is for courses that undergo a transformation more profound than a typical renovation.” – Derek Duncan, Architecture Editor, Golf Digest.
The 18-hole, par 72 layout which incorporated in 1958, offers spectacular sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay and is located next to the 500-plus acre Arastradero Open Space Preserve. Brian Costello, ASGCA worked closely with the membership, Course Superintendent Andrew Morgan, and key club professionals. The reimagined 18-hole, par 72 layout was completed in the Summer of 2022. The dramatic transformation of the course from a parkland, tree-lined style to a more ‘rustic’ and open character was fully realized. The complete make-over included a new par 3 and re-routed sections of the course, in addition to enlarged tees, sand-capped fairways, re-styled bunkers and green complexes built to USGA standards. The updated strategic bunkering was personally painted in the field by Brian Costello. Images courtesy of Marc Howard.
